Just to let people know, there are a few fraudulent scams going round at the moment where the caller will state they are from the security team at exchanges. This morning I had one that claimed they were from crypto.com (020 8638 5807). They referred to me by name and the scam goes something like this;

  • There has been an account reset request from a device
  • Login to your account so that I can white list your device
  • Check your account for suspicious transactions
  • Confirm amount in your account for FCSC protection
  • Write down a reference number so a senior adviser can confirm the case when they call you back

I played along to waste their time by acting as if I logged in using a device I don't own. At the end, I told him that I never logged in and FCSC will not cover unregulated assets like crypto, so I know it's a scam, and I've wasted your time. He then laughed and said well I've already made £24k today already. There are some low lifes out there.

I suspect part two of the scheme is when the 'senior adviser' calls back and then asks you to transfer to a safe wallet. They want you to confirm the amount you have to know if it's worth pursuing.

Don't fall for it folks. Waste their time.
